Why plugins are a security issue
Plugins can do absolutely anything to a WordPress site. They can make it better and add new features but they can also drain resources, break your site, or even in the worst of cases add malicious code or delete an entire database.
Most plugins are offered for free with no warranty, often hastily coded in someone's spare time. While this is part of the fun and excitement of working with open source software, it can also cause damage to a site.
