Adding SEO Image Galleries or SmugMug Short Codes to My Portfolio Pages

Once you have created a gallery and added images, you need to add it to a page.

Create a page, make sure it is a Gallery Page template, and select “Insert SEO Gallery” or "SmugMug".

You can select an entire album, which means all of your SEO Image Galleries will display. Or select your galleries individually. You can choose from 4 different display options including, Embedded Gallery, Overlay Gallery, Full Screen Gallery or Old School Gallery.

You can also choose various options such as thumbnail positioning, and thumbnails sizes. 2, 3 or 4 across or full length.

Once you have made all your selections, copy the short code for either the entire album (all of your galleries) or an individual galley. Select the Gallery Page you created and paste in the short code. Update the page.

Note: Make sure you place each short code on separate lines.

You can add any SmugMug gallery to a page, but they do not import into our SEO gallery system at this time.

HELP!!!  I can't get my seo image galleries to show up on the right pages.

On the home page, up at the top, I have "Portfolio."  What I then want is to hover over Portfolio and to see the sub-page options : "Portraits," and eventually "Weddings," and other sub-pages (to be created).  Right now, I've just created the Portraits sub-page.  Click on "Portraits," and then I want it to display thumbnails of the SEO galleries, such as "Seniors", "Newborn," and others.  So far, I've just created the "Seniors" SEO gallery.  This is where the problem is.  My Seniors SEO gallery is not showing up on my Portraits sub-page.

I'm currently set up like this:

1a) The portfolio page is set up as a "page with sub-pages."  In actuality, I don't want anyone to be able to click on "portfolio" - I just want the drop downs to appear as they hover over it, and then they have to choose a drop-down.  I had read that if I set up the portfolio page as a "page with sub-pages," then that would happen, but not such luck.

1b) Well, a thumbnail of the Senior SEO image gallery is insistently showing up on the Portfolio page, even though in Wordpress, I deleted the code to insert that gallery there.

2) The Portraits sub-page is set up as a page with sub-pages.  Here, I have the code: [seo_album category="portraits" spacing="thirds"].  So here, I'm expecting to see thumbnails of all seo image galleries with the category portraits - right now, that should be the senior gallery.  Instead, I get a blank page.

Please help!!!

Update - please ignore comment above.

I can't get my site to do what I want!

On the home page, up at the top, I have "Portfolio."  What I then want is to hover over Portfolio and to see the sub-page options : "Portraits," and eventually "Weddings," and other sub-pages (to be created).  Right now, I've just created the Portraits sub-page.  Click on "Portraits," and then I want it to display thumbnails of the SEO galleries, such as "Seniors", "Kids+Families," and others.  Click on "Seniors," and I do NOT want it to open up the gallery - rather, I want it to go to a new seniors page, where I can write text and THEN display the Seniors SEO image gallery below the text.

1b) Well, a thumbnail of all my SEO image galleries is insistently showing up on the Portfolio page, even though in Wordpress, I deleted the code to insert that gallery there, and even though its a page with sub-pages.

2) The Portraits sub-page is set up as a showcase page.  Here, I have the code: [seo_album category="portraits" spacing="thirds"].  So I'm getting the thumbnails of all seo image galleries with the category portraits - good.

2b) But now, how do I make the thumbnails link to my "Seniors" sub-page, where I can write specific senior-related text and show the image gallery?  Right now, clicking on "seniors" goes directly to the seo image gallery, where I have no option to write text.

Separate question:

I didn't realize that the user id I created would actually show up everywhere, and I understand that I can't change the user ID.  Can I somehow add another administrator user with a different name that is ok to be publicly visible?

Hi Irene,

I can see the confusion here... When a page is defined as a "Page with SubPages", it grabs the content from the first sub-page. Not a great solution IMHO, but the most user friendly we could find when building that page template. A huge majority of people who wanted a group of subpages expected that the firtst page would show up when clicking on the main title.

So in 1b), you are seeing the content of the sub-page, which has that seo_album code in it.

What you are looking for actually needs a page for the main "Portfolio" page, which I can describe in a moment here.

And then in each sub-page you just want the code for the single gallery or galleries you want on the page.

To connect it all, you want the main portfolio page to be images that link to those pages. So all you need to do is edit that main page, add an image and link it to the sub-page. Then add a second image and link to the next subpage. These images can be anything you want, but since you no longer have a title showing, you should probably include some text to show what gallery the image is linking to.

To add a link to an image, you can do that as you upload and insert it, or you can click on the image once it is in the editor and edit the link destination any time.

For the user name, can you submit a suppor ticket for that as I might want to ask some questions about where you are seeing it without making that stuff public. :)

But the quick answer is yes, you can add users at any time under "Users->Add New", can add as many as you want and can define different capabilities and access to each.

ok, that works... thank you so much Marty!

Now... what if I don't want anyone to be able to click on Portfolio?  What if I just want hovering over "portfolio" to bring down a dropdown menu for the Portraits page vs. the Weddings page, etc., and then clicking on the portraits page will then proceed the way we've been discussing?

My featured image of one of my galleries is showing up smaller than all the others. All of the codes are set exactly the same, but for some reason, one of the featured images is smaller than the ones for my other galleries. Is there a specific size that the image should be set to?
